Global Islands’ Vulnerability Research, Adaptation, Policy and Development
This two year research project investigating climate change in four small island developing states in the Caribbean (St. Lucia & Jamaica) and the Indian Ocean (Mauritius & Seychelles) is funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) and led by CARIBSAVE with multiple partners. The project seeks to understand the multiple social, economic, governance and environmental conditions that shape a community’s vulnerability and ability to adapt to their changing climate. The Environmental Change and Governance Group at the University of Waterloo is contributing to the governance portion of the project which seeks to understand how particular governance arrangements and processes may enable or inhibit potential adaptation strategies.
